A quick exhaust valve (QEV) is a pneumatic device that allows compressed air to exhaust quickly from an actuator or cylinder directly into the atmosphere instead of through the control valve, enabling faster actuator movement.

Its main function is to speed up the return or extension stroke of pneumatic actuators by providing a direct exhaust path, reducing cycle time and improving overall system efficiency.

When air flows into the actuator, the internal diaphragm or poppet closes the exhaust port. When the air supply is cut off, the internal mechanism opens immediately, allowing air from the actuator to vent directly through the exhaust port to the atmosphere.

The QEV is typically installed close to the actuator’s air port, between the actuator and the control valve. The closer the installation, the faster the exhaust response.
