Frequently Asked Questions

An air filter regulator is a pneumatic device that filters and regulates compressed air to provide clean, dry, and stable air pressure to equipment such as actuators, solenoid valves, and instruments.

Its function is twofold:

  1. Filter: Remove moisture, dust, and oil particles from compressed air.
  2. Regulator: Maintain a consistent output pressure regardless of input fluctuations.

Clean and regulated air improves actuator life, prevents valve malfunction, and ensures consistent system performance by eliminating contaminants and maintaining stable air pressure.

Compressed air enters the filter regulator, where solid particles and moisture are separated. The regulator section then adjusts and maintains the desired outlet pressure using a spring-controlled diaphragm mechanism.

Device Function
Filter Removes dust, water, and oil particles from air
Regulator Controls and maintains output air pressure
Lubricator Adds controlled lubrication (oil mist) for pneumatic tools and actuators
👉 Combined units are often called FRL units (Filter–Regulator–Lubricator).

Common filter element ratings:

  • 40 µm (standard) – General use
  • 5 µm (fine filtration) – Precision instruments or clean air applications
Special filters (1 µm or coalescing type) are available for oil removal.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Air leakage Damaged seal or fitting Replace seal, tighten fittings
No pressure output Clogged filter or faulty regulator spring Clean/replace element or repair regulator
Water not draining Drain valve blocked Clean or replace drain
Fluctuating output pressure Diaphragm wear or loose knob Replace diaphragm or secure knob

  • Protects pneumatic components
  • Improves actuator and valve life
  • Ensures stable operation and accurate control
  • Reduces downtime and maintenance costs

ZLV Series

The Zeetork ZLV series NAMUR and Non-NAMUR solenoid valves are developed and produced by our team utilizing cutting-edge air control technology along with our proprietary patent technology. Featuring a cartridge structure, the ZLV series valves ensure a continuous self-cleaning mechanism during each position shift, allowing them to achieve over one million cycles without issues.

  • Features:
  • Suitable for use of 3/2 NC or 5/2 functions to control double-acting and single-acting pneumatic actuators.
  • Suitable for pilot operated with single/dual (mono/bi- stable) coils and low watt miniature pilot valve.
  • Suitable for use of standard coil or various flame-proof and intrinsically safe coils certified for use in all hazardous areas Class I Zone I AEx d IIC T6 Gb, Ex d IIB+H2 T6 Gb, Ex d IIC T6 Gb, Ex ia IIC T6 Gb, Ex mb II T4 or T5).
  • Suitable for use of high temperature (150°C) and cold temperature (-40°C) applications.

The difference between 5/2 and 3/2 solenoid valves mainly lies in their port and position configuration, which determines how they control airflow in pneumatic systems.

Features 3/2 Solenoid Valve (Three-Port, Two-Position) 5/2 Solenoid Valve (Five-Port, Two-Position)
Key Features • Ports: 3 (Inlet, Outlet, Exhaust)
• Positions: 2 (Open or Closed)
• Function: Controls single-acting actuators or general air flow.
• Can be Normally Closed (NC) or Normally Open (NO).
• Ports: 5 (1 inlet, 2 outlets to cylinder ports, 2 exhausts)
• Positions: 2 (Direct air to either side of a double-acting cylinder)
• Often used with double-acting actuators.
Typical Use • Operating a single-acting cylinder
• Pilot signals
• Air blow-off applications
• Controlling double-acting pneumatic actuators or cylinders
• Reversing actuator motion (extend/retract)
Working • NC Type: When coil is not energized → air is blocked, outlet port vents.
• When coil is energized → air flows from inlet to outlet.
• In one position: Air goes to Port A, Port B exhausts.
• In the other: Air goes to Port B, Port A exhausts.
• Operated via single or double solenoid (spring return or bistable).

Frequently Asked Questions

The Zeetork ZLV Series includes high-performance NAMUR and Non-NAMUR solenoid valves, designed for controlling pneumatic actuators. Featuring advanced air control and proprietary patent technology, these valves use a cartridge structure that ensures continuous self-cleaning during every position shift. With the ability to exceed one million cycles, the ZLV Series offers reliable, fast, and precise on/off control of fluid or gas flow, making them ideal for industrial automation in hazardous, high-temperature, or cold environments.

ZLV Series solenoid valves support 3/2 NC and 5/2 functions, allowing control of double-acting and single-acting pneumatic actuators. They accommodate pilot-operated mono- or bi-stable coils, including low-power miniature valves. Certified for hazardous areas (Ex d, Ex ia) and extreme temperatures (–40°C to +150°C), the valves provide fast, precise switching with minimal delay. Compact and energy-efficient, they support remote control via PLCs or timers, enabling safe, automated operation in space-constrained industrial applications.

ZLV Series solenoid valves are designed for reliable and efficient automation. Their cartridge structure prevents contamination, ensuring long-lasting performance with over one million cycles. They integrate seamlessly with PLCs, sensors, and timers, allowing automated control of pneumatic actuators. Compact size enables installation in limited spaces, while low power consumption suits energy-conscious and battery-powered systems. Safety configurations support fail-safe operation on power loss, making them ideal for critical industrial processes where reliability and safety are essential.

The ZLV Series improves safety by supporting fail-safe designs, where valves default to normally closed or normally open on power loss. They are certified for hazardous areas (Class I Zone I AEx d IIC T6 Gb, etc.), making them suitable for chemical, marine, and explosive environments. The continuous self-cleaning cartridge design prevents blockages, ensuring consistent operation. Fast and precise switching minimizes risk of fluid or gas overpressure. These features help prevent accidents due to incorrect valve positioning.

Zeetork ZLV solenoid valves are designed with a modular structure and simple electrical wiring, enabling easy installation and quick field replacement. Their compact size helps integrate them in limited-space applications. The cartridge design simplifies servicing, as individual components can be replaced without major system downtime. Low power consumption with pulse or latching solenoids reduces energy costs, and wide voltage and coil compatibility makes the series highly flexible for various industrial setups, including hazardous and extreme temperature environments.
